WW II Horrors of War - MIA/KIA

The statistics of those killed or missing in action in WWII paint a sobering portrait of war on a global scale. While the number of American military personnel who remain Missing in Action from the Vietnam War exceeds 1,800, the number still Missing in Action for World War II exceeds a staggering 78,000. The families of those Missing in Action can find solace in knowing that America continues to investigate battlefields and crash sites, searching for the remains of missing military personnel. Through the symbolism of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, the United States of America will never forget those who remain Missing in Action.
